The secret to stress-free marketing

Finding a better way

can often mean finding a more calm way to do your marketing...

Hi Reader,

I totally get it! Doing your marketing sometimes feels like a little too much. You’re busy, and you don’t want to put time into something that might not work. It’s also a little vulnerable putting yourself out there.

On the latest episode of the podcast, Rachel Posner, a yoga therapist and mindfulness coach, told me about the window of tolerance. It’s a psychological concept of the optimal zone to both handle stress and process intense emotions effectively.

Rachel explained that doing something with other people helps you to feel like you’re still in your window of tolerance even when you’re doing something new. We also spoke about how she approaches collaborations with this in mind, to grow her own business and audience in a calm way.

Rachel told me all about how she does this partly through podcasting by being a guest, and then letting it evolve from there. She’s gone on to do bigger collaborations when it suits, but the interviews are a way that she is able to do this without causing conflict in her nervous system. We also talked about how she keeps it relevant for her business and what she’s learnt along the way.

Through my own podcast, I’ve met so many interesting new people, and had deeper conversations with people I’ve known for years. It’s still a little clenchy-feeling to listen to it back and edit it, so usually I do this right away so that I flow on from the buzz of the recording, and I don’t have the time to think about it! It’s also faster for me to interview someone than to plan a solo episode, partly because of the emotions and partly because I want to provide something super juicy, so that helps too.

Whether it’s going live with someone, running a joint webinar, creating a product together, or having them contribute to a project, you don’t always have to go it alone.

In my services, there is an element of this, because I’m there with them, but there’s other fun ways to bring this into your business too.

I challenge you (even though that sounds intense) to think of one way you could do something with someone else, and see what happens.

I'll be over here researching and journaling on other ways to work in my window of tolerance and how sharing small pieces in this newsletter can help you with yours.

At the centre of everything… What do all of your audiences have in common? Hi Reader, Many businesses don’t just sell to one audience. They might only sell one thing, but to different types of people, who have their own motivations and reasoning. There are always commonalities between the different groups of people your business serves. It works like a Venn diagram of your audiences, where what they have in common can cover more than one group. The number of audiences you have is how many...

When Niching Works I understand the question, people want to know if they’re operating in the right spaces, or of they’ll be limiting themselves too much. Hi Reader, Niching is a conversation for early stage entrepreneurs, almost everywhere you look. It comes up at pivotal times, when people want to know how they expand, by going deeper, or broader, or a mix of both. Moira Rose is taking this seriously A niche goes well beyond your average target audience of gender, age and a general...

Strategic Sale Decisions

Welcome to silly season... There are 14 decisions that help you run a strategic sale, to generate profit and curate a positive experience for your customers. Hi Reader, This week’s episode of the podcast is all about sale season. When we see others running sales, we feel a certain pressure to run one too, and for it to be just as big. In all reality, a big sale might not be a profitable decision for your business. I wanted to take that question of “should I”, and add in the “what” “when”...
