It's marketing review time

Performance Meets Purpose

More than just numbers, this review helps you move forward

Hi Reader,

As we move into a new month and a new quarter, it’s the perfect time to reflect on your marketing efforts from the past month. Analysing what worked, what didn’t, and where you can improve will help you make more informed decisions moving forward.

Here are areas to evaluate when reviewing your marketing performance:

  1. Were your marketing efforts aligned with your business goals? Or did you get distracted?
  2. Are you reaching and engaging the right people?
  3. Did you see an increase in traffic to your website, and from which sources?
  4. How many visitors left your website quickly? That’s your bounce rate.
  5. Did you grow your followers or engagement across social platforms in a meaningful way?
  6. How many new leads did you generate?
  7. Did your leads convert into customers or clients?
  8. Which pieces of content performed best in terms of views, shares, or engagement? Can you tell why?
  9. Were your email open rates and click-through rates in line with expectations?
  10. Were your paid ads reaching the right audience and producing a good return on investment?
  11. Did you receive feedback from customers that can inform your marketing strategy?
  12. How did your marketing efforts compare to competitors?
  13. Were you consistently posting and updating content across platforms?
  14. Did your automation tools work effectively, and did they save you time?
  15. Did you stay within your marketing budget, and was the spend justified by the results or other progress made?

Taking stock of these areas will give you a clear picture of your marketing performance and highlight areas that need extra attention.

Depending on how much time you have, you may not evaluate all of these on a monthly basis, and reflect on a quarterly basis. But when you can look into these and fully reflect, not only from a gut reaction but in detail, you can tweak your strategy, double down on what’s working, and pivot where necessary.

Here’s to more informed marketing this next quarter!

There's strength in clarity Simple adjustments can curate a more clear brand position Hi Reader, Brand positioning is one of the most crucial aspects of marketing. It can determine how your business is perceived in the market and is the foundation of how you differentiate yourself from competitors, how customers see you, and how you communicate your value through visual and written marketing. If done well, it builds trust, loyalty, and a strong connection with your audience. More than the...

Memorable Messaging In an ideal world, we want people to tell others about our businesses, but for that to happen, they need to be clear on what it is you do. Hi Reader, When creating content for your business, it's easy to focus solely on topics or trends that are hot right now. But to create content that truly resonates and drives results, it's essential to integrate your key messages consistently into everything you share. The more consistent your messaging is, the more likely someone who...

Mistakes fuel mastery Like I shared in this week's podcast, truly wasted time is when you keep doing the thing, even when you know it isn't necessary. Hi Reader, We’ve all been there. Putting a lot of effort (and time) into a marketing campaign, only to see that it doesn’t get the traction you hoped for. When things don’t work out, it’s natural to feel frustrated or even critical of yourself. But here’s the thing: Marketing mistakes don’t define you. They’re an opportunity to learn, grow, and...
