Hi Reader, The thing you choose might be the one you enjoy most, or the one that you believe will have the biggest impact. It might be what worked most for you last year, or even something that will hopefully better set you up for 2025. This week’s episode of the podcast is all about finding that focus.
I like to choose a phrase of the year (I explain more about why in the episode) and for the last few years, I’ve been able to choose something that fits all areas of my life. Last year, my phrase was “Less is More”. I was able to downsize my belongings, focus on the key elements of my health after getting a real diagnosis, I reduced my service menu, and was able to focus on fewer platforms in my marketing. I obviously did other things, but that was my focus, almost every day. I choose my focus for the year based on how I want to work, and where I want to be putting my energy. Naturally, I want that energy to make the next year simpler, and to create something that is fun, and works for me. Here are some questions I like to think about when choosing my focus:
A lot of the time I also choose a monthly focus. That might not always relate to the phrase of the year, but is descriptive of the focus for those coming weeks. That means I can have a few different focuses throughout the year, almost like side-quests, but I find that limiting the time period to focus on that side-quest keeps me more on track and productive overall. I’d love to hear all about what you have planned for the new year, what you want to focus on, and if you’ve chosen a word or phrase of the year, so hit reply and tell me all about it! They might only sell one thing, but to different types of people, who have their own motivations and reasoning. There are always commonalities between the different groups of people your business serves. It works like a Venn diagram of your audiences, where what they have in common can cover more than one group. The number of audiences you have is how many...
When Niching Works I understand the question, people want to know if they’re operating in the right spaces, or of they’ll be limiting themselves too much. Hi Reader, Niching is a conversation for early stage entrepreneurs, almost everywhere you look. It comes up at pivotal times, when people want to know how they expand, by going deeper, or broader, or a mix of both. Welcome to silly season... There are 14 decisions that help you run a strategic sale, to generate profit and curate a positive experience for your customers. Hi Reader, This week’s episode of the podcast is all about sale season. When we see others running sales, we feel a certain pressure to run one too, and for it to be just as big. In all reality, a big sale might not be a profitable decision for your business. I wanted to take that question of “should I”, and add in the “what” “when”...
