Hi Reader, The thing you choose might be the one you enjoy most, or the one that you believe will have the biggest impact. It might be what worked most for you last year, or even something that will hopefully better set you up for 2025. This week’s episode of the podcast is all about finding that focus.
I like to choose a phrase of the year (I explain more about why in the episode) and for the last few years, I’ve been able to choose something that fits all areas of my life. Last year, my phrase was “Less is More”. I was able to downsize my belongings, focus on the key elements of my health after getting a real diagnosis, I reduced my service menu, and was able to focus on fewer platforms in my marketing. I obviously did other things, but that was my focus, almost every day. I choose my focus for the year based on how I want to work, and where I want to be putting my energy. Naturally, I want that energy to make the next year simpler, and to create something that is fun, and works for me. Here are some questions I like to think about when choosing my focus:
A lot of the time I also choose a monthly focus. That might not always relate to the phrase of the year, but is descriptive of the focus for those coming weeks. That means I can have a few different focuses throughout the year, almost like side-quests, but I find that limiting the time period to focus on that side-quest keeps me more on track and productive overall. I’d love to hear all about what you have planned for the new year, what you want to focus on, and if you’ve chosen a word or phrase of the year, so hit reply and tell me all about it! Mistakes fuel mastery Like I shared in this week's podcast, truly wasted time is when you keep doing the thing, even when you know it isn't necessary. Hi Reader, We’ve all been there. Putting a lot of effort (and time) into a marketing campaign, only to see that it doesn’t get the traction you hoped for. When things don’t work out, it’s natural to feel frustrated or even critical of yourself. But here’s the thing: Marketing mistakes don’t define you. They’re an opportunity to learn, grow, and...
Big Goals Need A Plan Your dreams won't chase themselves Hi Reader,It’s been a while since I sent an email, but all is well here! I have a podcast episode coming up that will delve into the details of what I've been up to, but today I wanted to share one of the things I have been putting back into practice over the past few months. When working towards any goal, I use a tried and true process to break things down into a loop I can close. It’s one that I’ve also used with most of my clients...
Go your own way Hi Reader Since Honey Pot Digital was just the spark of an idea, my mission was to help small business owners better understand and take action in their marketing. The idea was sparked when I saw a client I was working with get swindled by their ad agency. Specifically, they got a photo done for a campaign they were doing with the business I worked for. The photo was curated to their brand, kinda, but it was missing one key element. The PRODUCT. Not only did they charge them,...
